The 28^th annual World Championship Punkin Chunkin Association pumpkin launching event took place Nov. 1 in Bridgeville, Del. It was a spectacular event with near record crowds, great weather, and 115 dedicated teams competing for the coveted prize.

When the dust settled, American Chunker — a professional “punkin chunkin” team sponsored by Ring Power — was crowned World Champion in their fourth season competing. 

Not only did American Chunker win the championship, they set a new world record with a monster 4,694.68-foot shot. The team used a Sullair 375HAF air compressor but would not divulge any other "top secret" information relating to the world record launch.

This marked the second consecutive year Ring Power’s air compressor group sponsored the team.

Ring Power Lift Trucks is pleased to announce that Patrick Knisel has been promoted to the position of Lift Truck Safety Trainer for North and Central Florida.

Knisel, who first joined Ring Power Lift Trucks in 2004 as a Product Support Sales Representative, has been instrumental in Ring Power Lift Trucks Parts and Service Sales growth and brings a wealth of knowledge to his new position as Lift Truck Safety Trainer.

In his new position, Knisel will oversee every aspect of Ring Power Lift Trucks comprehensive forklift operator certification training program in both North and Central Florida.

After a thorough assessment of market conditions and the growing demand for clean, alternative sources of energy, Ring Power Corporation’s Power Systems division has formed a Gas Energy Business unit to market the Cat-branded line of gas engine generators and full service solutions for gas-to-energy power projects.

Jake Jacobsen, a degreed electrical engineer, has assumed the role of Gas Energy Account Manager to lead this enterprise. Prior to this appointment, Jacobsen spent 15 years with the Caterpillar Electric Power division, where he served in a variety of product engineering capacities, most recently as customer service and product support manager for the Cat Gas products.

Ring Power Corporation has also named Nick Chiarugi as Gas Energy Sales Engineer. He will report to Jacobsen at Ring Power’s World Commerce Center headquarters. Chiarugi, a Power Systems sales representative for Ring Power since 2011, holds a degree in mechanical engineering from Mississippi State University.

Together the Gas Energy Business team will target the engineering, industrial, commercial, healthcare, institutional, governmental, and waste management sectors throughout north and central Florida whose power projects stand to benefit from the load management, peak shaving, combined heat and power, distributed generation, and renewable energy opportunities offered by gas-to-energy technology.

Ring Power is no newcomer to this technology. In the 1980s, as part of a concerted effort to increase awareness and sales of electric power generation systems, Ring Power built a co-generation power plant for its own use, to demonstrate the market potential. After that, Ring Power engineered and installed a co-gen plant that made a large regional shopping mall entirely energy self-sufficient. Another co-gen power plant, originally built and sold by Ring Power in the 1960s (and re-powered in the ’80s) still serves a downtown Jacksonville hospital today.

Ring Power Tactical Solutions was on hand for the 31^st Annual Swat Round-up International in Orlando, Fla., Nov. 11-14^th.

More than just a training event, the SWAT Round-Up was an opportunity for operators across the globe to come together as one and learn from each other. Law enforcement teams competed in numerous training events simulating real life scenarios. Other training events emphasized weapon expertise and physical fitness.

In addition to the many training opportunities available, Law enforcement personnel from around the world had the opportunity to meet and talk with Ring Power’s Tactical Solutions team and see The Rook Armored Critical Incident Vehicle in person. Attendees were impressed with The Rook’s versatility and other capabilities. Several even inquired about obtaining one for their agency.

Included in the purchase were four C5000-LE’s, one C4000-LE and seven C3500-LE’s. It’s easy to see why they need so many forklifts. The first company to detect and sort out defective fruit with the aid of technology rather than manual labor, West Coast Tomato produces about five million boxes of tomatoes annually!

The customer’s order originally called for 10 new Cat trucks, but they were so pleased with their first delivery and with Ring Power’s customer service, they decided to go all in and ordered two more.

Ring Power’s air compressor team recently completed the sale and startup of six new Sullair rotary screw air compressors at PCS Phosphate’s Suwannee River Chemical Plant. For PCS, this upgrade was the silver lining following Tropical Storm Debby, which damaged the plant’s Ingersoll Rand units in June 2012.

Within 24 hours of the storm, Ring Power's compressed air experts responded with rental compressors that supported the plant's production throughout the design and purchasing phase of the project. In addition to replacing seven old IR units, the new system required three new 8,000-gallon receiver tanks and a flow controller, also purchased from Ring Power.

Our new 299 compact loader developed a problem of automatic braking during operation. Jessie Judd investigated the problem this morning [Sept. 9] and nailed it. Diagnostics did not reveal problem so he assimilated running a pattern to surface malfunction. He determined it was electrical by watching panel’s reaction while in running mode. He then performed wiring trace and found that one cable that tees off of battery terminal was loose enough to break contact during operations. This may sound simple now that it has been discovered but could have led to an ongoing chronic problem that very well could have caused more damage to unit because it was not an evident problem. It was Jessie Judd’s expertise and dedicated diligence to pursue and eradicate problem that impressed me.  He possesses outstanding customer service skills as well. Please take the time to recognize and commend him for a job well done.

It was just another day on the job for Ring Power Truck Shop Service Technician Randy Underhill and Service Leadman Dan Delgross. But their skills and determination to provide top-notch service saved one customers trip.
