Business Insider recently highlighted how The Rook, an armored critical incident vehicle from Ring Power Tactical Solutions, has become a must-have tool for law enforcement agencies across the nation.

Ring Power Tactical Solutions was on hand for the 31^st Annual Swat Round-up International in Orlando, Fla., Nov. 11-14^th.

More than just a training event, the SWAT Round-Up was an opportunity for operators across the globe to come together as one and learn from each other. Law enforcement teams competed in numerous training events simulating real life scenarios. Other training events emphasized weapon expertise and physical fitness.

In addition to the many training opportunities available, Law enforcement personnel from around the world had the opportunity to meet and talk with Ring Power’s Tactical Solutions team and see The Rook Armored Critical Incident Vehicle in person. Attendees were impressed with The Rook’s versatility and other capabilities. Several even inquired about obtaining one for their agency.

About The Rook Armored Critical Incident Vehicle

The Rook Vehicle is custom designed and fabricated by Ring Power Corporation, the North and Central Florida Caterpillar® dealer. Utilizing the powerful Cat® 287C Multi-Terrain Loader with 84 gross HP engine, 13,000 lbs. operating weight, rugged wide rubber tracks, dual joystick controls, and enclosed cab with air conditioning/heat and operator comfort seat, custom installed bullet-proof glass, and NIJ Level IV armor cab reinforcement fabrication.

When law enforcement officers are called to any emergency situation - they are prepared for the worst case scenario. Whether dealing with a hostage rescue, barricaded suspects, riot scene, or natural disaster having the right defensive equipment is critical. After hours of negotiating with a suspect who was barricaded in a home, the Pennsylvania State Police tactical team decided it was time to go in.

Fortunately, the department recently acquired The Rook, an armored critical incident vehicle designed by Ring Power Corporation.

Utilizing one of the Rook’s strategic attachments the tactical team was able to safely approach the structure; protected by the custom built NIJ Level IV Armored Deployment Platform.

The Armored Deployment Platform, which can be raised up to 11 feet, allowed the tactical team to deploy officers to the roof of the home and gain access through a window.

"It was definitely a valuable tool for the department to have in protection of the troopers," Sgt. Barry Brinser, supervisor of the state police Special Emergency Response Team for Eastern Pennsylvania, told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Pennsylvania State Police are already in the process of acquiring a second Rook, to be used in another region of the state.

Already in use with many law enforcement agencies across the country, The Rook protects officers in ways traditional shields and vehicles cannot.

The standoff with former LAPD officer Christopher Dorner in California earlier this month was certainly a tragic situation. Numerous innocent lives were lost before the situation ended with the suspect barricaded in a home. According to reports, the suspect ended his own life before the home was burned to the ground.

In situations like these it’s crucial that law enforcement has the necessary tools to resolve a situation while minimizing the risk to both officers and civilians.
