Tarpon Springs Police Recognize Ring Power Employee

April 7, 2017 at 10:58 AMRing Power

On Jan. 13, at 5 a.m., Rollie Watson (Tampa Heavy Equipment Service Advisor) came to the assistance of Sgt. Scott “Oz” Osarczuk of the Tarpon Springs Police Department. Osarczuk was en route to participate in services honoring fallen Orlando Police Lt. Debra Clayton and Orange County Sheriff Deputy Norman Lewis when he experienced a flat tire on his department-issued SUV. Already in his dress uniform, Osarczuk was not in position to change the tire himself. Watson, on his way to work, happened upon the situation at a convenience store just off Interstate 4 in Plant City and quickly stepped up to assist the sergeant and ensure he was able to make it to the fallen officers’ services.

On Tuesday, April 4, nearly 3 months later, Sgt. Oz thanked Rollie in front of a group of his coworker's at Ring Power's Riverview facility. Tampa Bay's WFTS was onsite to capture the moment. Watch the video here.

Tampa MCRC Earns Timken Silver Certification

February 24, 2017 at 10:19 AMRing Power

Tampa’s Heavy Equipment Major Component Rebuild Center recently achieved silver certification from The Timken Company, receiving a plaque and banner as a source of pride for employees and clear evidence to customers that the MCRC facility is “Timken Bearing Certified.”

The certification process is done in conjunction with Timken’s bearing maintenance training programs. Prior to training, a Timken engineer conducts a rigorous evaluation of the processes and equipment used to store, remove, install and maintain bearings. Following the training, the Timken engineer returns for the post-training audit.

Being designated Bearing Certified means that the MCRC adheres to the highest standards in bearing service and confirms that solid processes are followed and the appropriate equipment is in place to ensure proper bearing maintenance.

Ring Power's MCRC rebuilds and repairs diesel engines, transmissions and torque converters, power train components, provides engine component services and dyno tests to meet Caterpillar® performance specs.

Ring Power Presence at Construction Career Days Boosts Interest in Service Tech Careers

February 17, 2017 at 9:29 AMRing Power

In January, members of Ring Power’s training department traveled to the Central Florida Fairgrounds in Orlando for Construction Career Days. The purpose of the annual event is to introduce high school students to the wide range of career opportunities in the construction industry.

Approximately 375 students attended the two-day event this year. In one of the 20 lab sessions they presented to the students, Teri Brown (St. Augustine Customer Training, Apprentice Program & Think Big Manager), Gabe Sacco (St. Augustine Training Instructor) and Matt Sessions (Orlando HE Sales Rep) spoke to students about paths to employment in selling and servicing heavy equipment. They also entertained questions about the benefits of working for a company like Ring Power.

Following the presentation, students teamed up and competed against each other utilizing power wrenches to see who could remove and replace segment bolts the fastest. Cat hats were awarded to the winning teams.

Kudos to Gabe Sacco, Teri Brown and Matt Sessions, and to Wayne Veitch (WCC Transportation Division Manager) and Brian Wood (St. Augustine Assistant Fleet Manager) who also played a part in making this year’s event a great success!

January 20, 2017 at 10:09 AMRing Power

As a Florida contractor, you know how important it is to minimize downtime. Follow these simple tips to keep your new onstruction equipment running at top performance.

Know the location of your engine oil dipstick. Check the oil often to make sure the engine contains the proper amount of oil.

- Air filters are one of the most vital components of the engine bay. Clean air going in will lengthen the life expectancy of your machine's engine— check it daily.

- Keep an eye on fuel condition. Visually inspecting the fuel lets you know if you have high amounts of water or contaminants.

- Check your recommended intervals. Be sure to follow your machines recommended intervals for changing the hydraulic filter.

- Coolant should be filled to spec. Visually inspect to make sure it’s at the right level.

- Manually disconnecting the battery is helpful as an anti-theft device or if the machine will sit idle for an extended period of time.
