Ring Power Brings Hands-on Equipment Experience to Orlando Students

In the spirit of a good career fair, Ring Power’s training department set up a hands-on “equipment lab” for students at Construction Career Days in Orlando Jan. 29 -31. The event, held at the Central Florida Fair Grounds, is designed to introduce local junior and senior high school students to the wide range of career opportunities available to them.

During Ring Power’s presentation, volunteers formed teams of two. Each team was given one battery-operated impact wrench and one box end wrench. One member of the team was instructed to remove the bolts, washers, and nuts from a sprocket segment and then the other team member had to reinstall the bolts, washers, and nuts on the other sprocket segment. The teams that completed the challenge the fastest all won Ring Power hats.

In another part of the presentation, a working C15 engine was hooked up to Cat ET (electronic technician) with “Real Time Graphing” while volunteers observed accelerator pedal position, desired engine speed and actual engine speed and recorded and saved the data on a graph.

All told, approximately 240 students attended the 16 sessions held over the three-day event.
