Phoenix Products HVHZ Generator Enclosures Receive Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance—October 2011

HVHZ generator enclosureMiami-Dade County recently approved Phoenix Products’ high velocity hurricane zone (HVHZ) generator enclosures with the Miami-Dade County Notice of Acceptance (NOA). This approval attests to the ability of these enclosures to withstand sustained winds up to 165 mph and wind gusts up to 177 mph for three seconds while remaining impact resistant to windborne debris.

This is good news for many business facilities in south Florida that rely on generators for backup power. As a condition for site specific permit verification, Florida law requires either state or local product approval on building envelope components and systems, demonstrating structural resistance to wind loads as outlined by current FBC standards. Miami-Dade and Broward counties, which are defined as high velocity hurricane zones, require Miami-Dade County NOA.

In addition to Miami-Dade approval (NOA 09-1216.04), Phoenix Products' HVHZ enclosures have earned the approval of The National Accreditation Management Institute (NAMI) and meet all current FBC standards.
