Ring Power Air Compressor Group Sponsors Pumpkin Chunker Team

October 11, 2012 at 9:52 AMRing Power

It’s that time of year again. Fall is in the air. Some people like to carve pumpkins this time of year — we prefer to launch them into the air at impressive speeds. That’s why we’re a proud sponsor of American Chunker. Ring Power, with the help of Sullair, has supplied the American Chunker team a high pressure compressor known as "Compressorzilla.” American Chunker will be competing with other Punkin Chunkin teams throughout the season. We’ll post more photos and updates as the season progresses.

Columbia High School Gets a Lift from Ring Power

Ring Power donates the use of Cat forklift to high school’s Global Logistics Academy

In a small Lake City warehouse, big things are happening.

The warehouse is part of Columbia High School’s Global Logistics Academy, and inside students get hands-on instruction, gaining the skills and experience necessary for a successful career in the logistics field.

But until recently the warehouse lacked a key ingredient — a forklift

So academy instructor Rebecca Golden made a call to Ring Power in Lake City and Regional Sales Manager Todd Sandlin set the wheels in motion to make a forklift in the warehouse become a reality.

Oct. 2 Ring Power Lift Trucks, with administrators and students watching, handed over the keys to a Cat Lift Trucks C5000 to Golden. With the support of Mitsubishi Caterpillar Forklift of America (MCFA), Ring Power Lift Trucks donated the use of the Cat Lift Trucks forklift for the academic year.

“The forklift will allow students to train and become forklift certified, making them more employable,” said Golden.

Having a forklift in the warehouse will also allow outside groups to come in and become forklift certified, providing additional income to sustain the program, Golden said.

At the warehouse on campus students receive books from First Book, an organization out of Washington D.C. that collects and donates books. When a shipment arrives, students receive the order, package the books and then distribute them throughout the country.

Three years ago the Global Logistics Academy started with just 53 students. Currently 124 students are enrolled in the program and many of them enter careers in the logistics field upon completion of the program.

Anthony and Andrew Pickolo started in the logistics program in their sophomore year. Now seniors, they are spending time in the warehouse on-campus and interning with several companies off-campus.

Andrew said once he completes the program this year he is “pretty much guaranteed employment at the Target distribution center.”

Target has also partnered with the logistics academy and recently donated racking for the warehouse.

The Columbia High School Logistics Academy makes a lot of sense.

Lake City, with its access to major highways and rail lines, is quickly positioning itself as an inland port. Several major corporations have distribution centers already located in Lake City, and many more are expected.

Ring Power Creates Special Time for Local Dreamers

October 5, 2012 at 11:19 AMRing Power

For many children facing life-threatening illnesses, the realities of their battles do not stop once a dream is fulfilled. In the effort to create additional moments of joy and hope for local children before and after their dream, Dreams Come True established Special Times. Yesterday, the Ring Power Corporation, for a third year, hosted dreamers for a Special Time at their corporate headquarters in St. Augustine.

Organized through Dreams Come True’s young professionals group, the Horizon Board, Tavi Sport, 4, Cayden Seng, 7, and Ronald Brown, 7, enjoyed a private tour of the Ring Power facility off World Commerce Parkway.

With representatives from Ring Power Corporation and Dreams Come True, each dreamer was given the opportunity to see and learn about Caterpillar® equipment. Their tour included the chance to practice operating heavy machinery with the help of simulators in Ring Power’s Training Department, visits to the Power Systems Truck Shop and the Heavy Equipment Service Shop, an opportunity to climb on stationary equipment, a backhoe loader demonstration and individual tours of Ring Power’s property in the cab of a 740 Cat® dump truck. Following their tour, each dreamer was given a bag filled with special toys and souvenirs from Ring Power Corporation.

A past Horizon Board member, Heather Lane, works in Ring Power’s marketing department and has helped coordinate the tours for the past three years.

“Dreams Come True is a remarkable local organization. It brings such joy to so many in Northeast Florida, Ring Power included. Our team feels honored to get to spend time with these special children, I think our employees enjoy it more than the kids do! It’s been one of the most rewarding highlights of my position here,” said Lane.

Dreams Come True’s Special Times program provides the dream child and his or her family a time to momentarily forget the realities of life-threatening illnesses.  It may be a special tour, dinner at a favorite restaurant, tickets to local events, a relaxing evening at the movies, a day of beauty, a gift certificate to a store, new release DVDs or even a special holiday or birthday treat.

Since 2010, Ring Power Corporation has hosted 15 dreamers and their families for this Special Time organized by the Horizon Board.
