Phoenix Products Generator Enclosure Design Blows Away the Competition!

Generator enclosure design receives State of Florida approval for High Velocity Hurricane Zone aluminum enclosures. High Wind Velocity Generator Enclosure

In August, Phoenix Products received State of Florida approval on their new High Velocity Hurricane Zone (HVHZ) aluminum enclosures, putting them at the forefront of the industry for providing the highest level of generator enclosure protection.

Florida law requires either state or local approval on all building envelope components and systems to certify resistance to structural wind loads as required in the current edition of the Florida Building Code. In terms of structural design, any area that requires a minimum wind design velocity of 100 mph is defined as a hurricane prone region. The Florida Building Code generally enforces this minimum acceptable standard to protect life and property, but—depending on intended use, owner preference or insurance stipulations—many projects require above-minimum performance.

Phoenix Products now offers a hurricane protection solution. Their new HVHZ aluminum genset enclosures are designed to withstand minimum structural wind loads of 150 mph, high internal/external pressure differentials and the impact of wind-borne debris. In addition, the aluminum construction resists corrosion caused by sea air and high humidity.

The HVHZ enclosure is another example of the technology, quality, and performance that exemplify the Phoenix tradition of excellence. Hats off to the men who made it work! Heath Kinnunen, Phoenix Products manufacturing engineer, team lead and head project engineer, oversaw the research and development phase of the HVHZ design project, and later, the independent witness testing. Ilmedin Husnic, Enclosure department fabricator and Chris Morter, Tank department welder, were responsible for preparing and building the specimens for independent laboratory tests. Manufacturing engineers Clifton Mills and Richard Hartney supervised the third party quality assurance compliances.

For more information about the new HVHZ enclosure, contact a Phoenix Products sales representative or stop by their facility next time you’re in Jacksonville.

Phoenix Products specializes in the manufacture of generator set enclosures, fuel storage tanks, aboveground fuel storage tanks, electrical control panels and insulation blankets for exhaust systems, as well as metal stairs and platforms. Their headquarters reside in Jacksonville, Florida with offices in Oakdale, California.

Vital Signs of Your Forklift’s Engine System

Maintaining a watchful eye on your forklift’s engine performance is good business practice. It will also ensure your forklift is operating at peak performance, which in turn lowers your operating expenses and saves money. Below are seven areas to watch on your forklift engine service areasforklift’s engine system.

Air Filtration Dirty or damaged air cleaner components, including the air cleaner hose, housing and seals, may allow unfiltered, contaminated air to enter the forklift’s engine and cause serious damage to rings, bearings and other components.

Lubrication Oil breaks down chemically and accumulates contaminants over time regardless of the forklift’s engine hours. Heat cycles also break down additives in engine oil and deteriorate lubricating capabilities that can result in accelerated wear and shorter forklift engine life.

Fuel System A forklift engine not tuned to optimal performance can result in low power, inefficient forklift operation and excessive fuel cost. Failure to comply with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements where applicable can result in considerable fines.

Starting and Charging Stations Low forklift batteries, a loose alternator belt, damaged ignition components or worn or corroded electric forklift battery terminals could lead to poor performance, excess fuel usage, pollutants or a "no start" condition.

Cooling System Coolant also deteriorates over time, reducing the effectiveness of additives and changing the pH factor. Both can damage the forklift’s water pump, radiator and aluminum components. A damaged fan blade may cause vibration, which can damage the bearings and radiator.

Seals & Gaskets A leaking valve cover and/or damaged pan gaskets or seals could contaminate the operating environment and result in costly forklift engine failure.

Freeze Plugs Coolant leakage via freeze plugs could result in loss of fluid and overheating damage to the engine and transmission.

Jacksonville Cat Rental Store Hosts Bobcat Luncheon

On July 29th, the Jacksonville location of Ring Power’s Cat Rental Storeâ opened its doors for an informative luncheon. The purpose of the gathering was to welcome all of Bobcatâ of North Florida’s customers to a show and tell of Cat Rental Store’s equipment Jacksonville Ring Powerand services. Ring Power Corporation wanted all Bobcat owners to know that RPC is eager to help with any and all of their parts and service needs.

These customers and guests were invited by their respective North Florida salesmen to visit the Pecan Park location in Jacksonville. Bobcat owners were encouraged to walk through our Service bays and Parts Warehouse. There were eight brand new Compact Construction Equipment machines brought in for the customers to inspect and demonstrate. In addition to the new Cat Compact Track Loaders (CTLs), Multi-Terrain Loaders (MTLs), Skid Steer Loaders (SSLs), and Mini Hydraulic Excavators (MHEs), a wide array of attachments were on site for the customers to see. Trenchers, Vibratory Compactors, Cold Planers, Augers, Mowers, Hammers and Brooms were all there demonstrating just how versatile our compact construction equipment is. After demonstrations and walk-arounds, guests were asked to stay for a barbeque lunch.

The Luncheon proved to be a great success. Jacksonville Account Manager, Kyle Ryan, said one of his customers was so impressed with our equipment line that they traded-in their Bobcat 325 and bought a Cat 303.5 C CR. This company plans to get all their parts and service needs through Ring Power and their rentals through the Cat Rental Store in the future. Ryan’s customer Clift Pools has also started using Ring Power’s CRS service department for all maintenance and repairs on the Bobcat units they already own.
